Content: This series is composed of records related to the work of the Council, which main functions are as follows:
- Review and, where necessary, provide advice on a draft Programme of Work and Budget drawn up by the Director-General and approve it for submission to the General Assembly;
- Monitor the execution of the Programme of Work and Budget;
- Formulate long-term policies, in close co-operation with the Director-General;
- Make recommendations to the General Assembly on the appointment of the Director-General;
- Approve the structure of the Secretariat proposed by the Director-General;
- Monitor the financial operations of ICCROM; and
- Appoint the external auditor.

The Council also nominates and votes for one winner of the Award in each biennium. By tradition, and following the Council’s decisions, the Award is presented on the occasion of ICCROM’s General Assembly.

Consultability: Records of this series are available for consultation when 20 years have passed from their creation date, and no restrictions are applied to them. Final documents distributed to and approved by the Council, except for records marked confidential or with confidential sections, are publicly available after the meeting.
