Content

This subfile documents archaeological and cultural heritage sites in Lebanon, Tunisia, and Morocco, primarily during the 1990s. It includes images of excavations, restoration efforts, and urban development impacts on historical landmarks. Many of the images pertaining to Lebanon were taken during a mission for UNESCO.

Highlights from Lebanon include extensive documentation of Tyre, with its Roman hippodrome, necropolis, Phoenician sites, and aqueducts. Beirut, the capital, is depicted through various images showcasing archaeological excavations and the city's ongoing transformation, as well as bombarded buildings. Other sites include Sidon and Eshmoun that are also known for their archaeological importance.

Images from Tunisia covers the Bardo National Museum, Thuburbo Maius, Dougga, and Kairouan, showcasing mosaics, ruins, and historical architecture.

Morocco is represented by sites such as Volubilis, an important Roman site renowned for its well-preserved ruins and mosaics featuring Tangier Gate and Triumphal Arch; and Rabat, where the medieval fortified Muslim necropolis of Chellah is located.
