This subfile highlights a range of significant cultural and historical sites across four countries in Africa: Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.

In Zimbabwe, the medieval city of Great Zimbabwe is featured, known for its large circular wall and conical tower, and the Great Enclosure. Images show impressive sections of a wall built on a boulder and another section that has collapsed.

In Tanzania, views of Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater highlight landscapes, while Dar es Salaam showcases urban architecture with its government buildings. In Arusha, local life is captured through everyday scenes, including a carwash shop. Olduvai Gorge, known for its archaeological importance as the Laetoli Footprints, presents the Zinj findspot and various researchers working on site.

In Kenya, Lamu stands out with its carved doors and historical mosques, illustrating the region’s architectural richness. Mombasa features traditional dhows, while Diani Beach reveals local beach culture. The Blue Nile and Shoa regions reflect pastoral life and captivating landscapes.

This subfile also includes various images of researchers from the Getty Conservation Institute that were working on various sites across these countries.
