Content

This subfile contains images of archaeological landmarks located in Greece showcasing landscapes, monuments, site details including some restauration and reconstruction works. From Athens, there are iconic sites such as the Acropolis, Temple of Hephaestus, and Hadrian’s Arch, Erechtheion, and Temple of Olympian Zeus. From Mycenae, images of notable sites include the Citadel House, Lion Gate, Postern Gate, and Cyclopean Wall. There are also monasteries of Meteora, such as Roussanou, Agia Triada, Dupiani, Agiou Nikilaou, and Varlaam. Images in Ioannina include sites such as Ali Pasha Tomb and Frourio entrance, while in Monenvasia there are images of Holy Church of Hagia Sophia and Lakoma. In Missolonghi, view of a lagoon and a monument of Lord Byron are seen.

In Delphi, the Temple of Apollo and Castalian Spring are shown, while Sparta, Pylos, and Tiryns feature ancient fortifications. From Rhodes there are images of the historic Street of Knights and the Temple of Aphrodite, set against tourist scenes. There are also images of two artifacts from U.S. museums, which are Vasiliki ‘teapot’ held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; and Minoan Snake Goddess sculpture at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts.
