Site preservation - adobe (not roofs)

This subfile contains images of preservation efforts and observations from global heritage sites, with a particular focus on adobe structures and site conservation challenges.

The document highlights techniques for preserving mud-brick (MB) structures, such as applying PVA and emulsion to strengthen them. Sites like Cacaxtla in Mexico illustrate the consolidation of MB reliefs and decorations, as well as wall restorations. Images from Tulor in Chile documents the construction of adobe structures using clay and straw in mould, wetting form, digging of earth for the reconstruction of huts.  Issues such as vegetation on roofs and exposed MB walls (e.g., Jericho in Palestine, Saqqra in Egypt) are also noted, showcasing the vulnerability of these materials.

Several instances of restoration work are showcased, such as the use of new MB bricks for repairs at Elephantine in Egypt, and restoration project at display to public in Belo Horizonte in Brazil. Other examples include reconstruction challenges at Luxor, Peru, and Chile, where MB walls had collapsed.

Another theme found in this subfiles include the development of visitor infrastructure, including paths, signage, and protective measures at sites like Stonehenge, England, Teotihuacan, Mexico, and Qumran in West Bank.

There are also two slides showing Aug 30, 1998 newspaper clippings of Flame of Liberty - Diana Memorial situated in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
