Italy: Bramante's nymphaeum in Genazzano

25 January 2022

This 16th-century nymphaeum in Genazzano, Italy, was never finished but is notable for being the work of Renaissance architect Donato Bramante. In more recent times, the ruins have undergone restoration works to combat the effects of erosion from a nearby stream. The nymphaeum was studied by participants of ICCROM Architectural Conservation Course in 1977. As a result, ICCROM Archives hold a fascinating series of photos and drawings of the nymphaeum, including this one! Learn more here
